RFQ File Revision Control For Tooling Quotes
Revision control helps tooling teams know which drawing, model, spreadsheet, catalog, or quote file was used for each decision.
Tooling quotes depend on files. Drawings, models, setup sheets, spreadsheets, catalogs, and quote documents all influence what gets recommended and priced.
When files move through email attachments, it can become unclear which version is current. A supplier may quote from an old print, a distributor may forward the wrong model, or an internal approval may reference a quote that has already been revised.
Revision control for RFQs does not have to mean heavy engineering document control. At minimum, the team needs to know which file was attached, when it was shared, who received it, and whether a newer version replaced it.
That record matters when a question comes back later. If a quote, alternate, or decision is challenged, the team can see the file context that shaped the response.
For tooling workflows, file control is part of commercial control. Clean files support cleaner quotes, better supplier communication, and fewer avoidable mistakes.
