DMG MORI NLX 2500 (2nd generation)

DMG MORI NLX 2500 second generation is a current universal turning platform offered in 700 and 1250 length types with multiple spindle, turret, control, and sub-spindle configurations. The official page publishes a 366 mm maximum workpiece diameter, 105 mm maximum bar diameter, 260 mm X travel, 120 mm Y travel, and 795 or 1,345 mm Z travel depending on length type.

Company overview

DMG MORI NLX 2500 second generation is a current universal turning platform offered in 700 and 1250 length types with multiple spindle, turret, control, and sub-spindle configurations. The official page publishes a 366 mm maximum workpiece diameter, 105 mm maximum bar diameter, 260 mm X travel, 120 mm Y travel, and 795 or 1,345 mm Z travel depending on length type.

Industries and applications

  • Published maximum workpiece diameter is 14.4 in / 366 mm.
  • Published maximum workpiece length is 27.9 in / 708 mm for Type 700 or 49.5 in / 1258 mm for Type 1250; maximum bar diameter is 4.1 in / 105 mm.
  • Chuck, jaw, turret, driven-tool, sub-spindle, steady-rest, bar-feed, and automation configurations reduce the usable collision-free envelope.

Technical and quote details

  • X travel: 10.2 in / 260 mm.
  • Y travel: 4.7 in / 120 mm total published Y-axis travel.
  • Z travel: 31.3 in / 795 mm for Type 700; 53.0 in / 1345 mm for Type 1250.
  • Spindle interface: Chuck, spindle-nose, bar-capacity, and left/right spindle package are configuration dependent.
  • Spindle speed: Left spindle 5,000 rpm with 10-inch package or 3,000 rpm with optional 12-inch package; optional right-spindle packages vary.
  • Spindle power: Published spindle output and torque vary by installed left- and right-spindle package.
  • Tool capacity: BMT turret supports up to 20 tool stations; VDI configuration is published as 12 stations.
  • Control: SIEMENS alternative.
  • Control: MAPPS alternative.
  • Control: CELOS X / ERGOline X package is configuration dependent.
  • Control: Record CNC, MAPPS or SIEMENS generation, software, cycles, networking, turret, spindle, probing, and automation options from the build.
  • Compatibility, lineage, or lifecycle crosswalk: machine-to-turret-tooling to Static and driven tooling qualified for the installed BMT or VDI turret package (conditional). Verify machine length type, turret package, station count, tool block and driven-tool interface, rotation direction, maximum speed and torque, coolant, spindle and sub-spindle clearance, chuck and jaws, and control options. • Compatibility, lineage, or lifecycle crosswalk: successor-generation to DMG MORI NLX 2500 prior generation (manufacturer-documented-generation). DMG MORI calls the second generation a completely modernized new edition of the NLX 2500. This is a model-line generation statement only, not a claim that tooling, programs, parameters, options, controls, service parts, or automation are interchangeable. Selection notes

Variables to validate

  • Type 700 and Type 1250 travels and workpiece lengths must not be merged into one installed-machine value.
  • Spindle, chuck, turret station count, driven-tool interface, right spindle, control, and automation remain build specific.
  • The manufacturer describes this as a modernized new edition, but that does not establish tooling, parameter, service-part, program, or option interchangeability with an earlier NLX 2500.
