REGO-FIX powRgrip vs HAIMER Shrink Fit
powRgrip and HAIMER shrink-fit holders are high-accuracy systems with very different loading methods. powRgrip presses a shallow-taper collet into a matching holder without heat. Shrink fit thermally expands a precision holder bore so an exact-size tool shank can be inserted and locked as the holder cools.
Side-by-side comparison
| Category | REGO-FIX powRgrip | HAIMER Shrink Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Clamping method | Hydraulic press loads a proprietary collet into a matching holder; no heat is applied to the tool or holder. | Induction heating expands the holder bore, followed by cooling around an exact-size carbide or HSS shank. |
| Diameter flexibility | Interchangeable collets cover many shank diameters, including selected Weldon-flat tools, within the system range. | Each holder bore is normally dedicated to one nominal shank diameter. |
| Changeover | Published tool changes are under 10 seconds and the assembly can be handled immediately. | Requires a heating and cooling cycle; automated and contact-cooling equipment can reduce changeover time. |
| Profile and rigidity | Collet-and-holder assembly provides damping and high clamping torque with a somewhat larger nose than the slimmest shrink holders. | Very slim, symmetric holder profiles and direct bore contact suit high-speed work and tight interference zones. |
| Pullout control | High published clamping torque; system performance depends on genuine matched holders and collets. | Safe-Lock adds positive pullout protection for compatible grooved cutters in high-performance roughing. |
Best fit by application
REGO-FIX powRgrip
- Use powRgrip when rapid cold changes, diameter flexibility, damping and broad operation coverage justify the press and proprietary collet inventory.
- It is useful where operators need tools ready immediately after loading.
HAIMER Shrink Fit
- Use HAIMER shrink fit when the slimmest profile, simple symmetric assembly or Safe-Lock pullout protection is the stronger requirement.
- It fits shops already equipped with controlled heating, cooling and holder-cleaning processes.
Selection notes
powRgrip favors fast cold changeover and collet flexibility. Shrink fit favors a slim direct-clamp geometry and optional positive pullout protection. The equipment and inventory model are as important as holder price.
Variables to validate
- Both require dedicated loading equipment and disciplined cleaning; neither should be mixed with unauthorized components.
- Compare runout at the same gauge length, plus balance, projection, clamping torque and pullout risk.
